At just 6 years old, Shanta Johnson is concocting scrubs and lotions, and creating crafts of positivity, like mirrors and journals. She says her Pretty Brown Skin Beauty Products will bring health and happiness to others, just like they did for her.Shanta’s mom, Katrelia, said they started making the products because of the little girl’s eczema popping up on her legs.”She had really dry skin on the back of her legs,” her mom said. “We started using shea butter, mango butter – everything natural on her skin. And it really made a huge difference.”Once friends and family reported similar results, the Johnsons realized this could be a real business. But Katrelia wanted her daughter to be in charge of it.”It’s a great chance to let her get the experience to see what a business is all about without mom and dad always being there right over her shoulder,” she said. “She’s got a lot of courage already, but I think this will still help.”Shanta admitted to being a bit nervous about participating in the upcoming Children’s Business Fair in Winston-Salem. She’s coming from a long way, too, driving boxes of products all the way from Raeford, North Carolina. But she has the same goal for all of her customers, no matter their background.”I want them to have good skin and I wish that they have a good day with the affirmations,” Shanta said. Check out Shanta’s all-natural products at the Children’s Business Fair on Saturday. It’s 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Kaleideum North in Winston-Salem.
